Triumph Motorcycle HMI Redesign
Role
Project Manager/ UX Designer
Duration
10 Weeks

Challenge
Through rider interviews and dealership visits, we found that riders frequently switched between navigation, weather, and communication tools while riding. Critical information was fragmented across multiple devices, increasing distraction and cognitive load.
Solution 01 — Smarter Navigation
Navigation is one of the most cognitively demanding tasks while riding. We simplified route guidance into glanceable views that surface only the information riders need in the moment.
Solution 02 — Real-Time Awareness
Riders often check separate devices for weather and road conditions. We integrated temperature, precipitation, and wind data directly into the riding experience.
Solution 03 — Connected Riding
Group riders struggle to stay aware of one another without constant communication. Community Mode enables riders to track group progress and identify riders who fall behind in real time.

Iteration & Outcome
Through usability testing, we refined information hierarchy, simplified visual elements, and removed unnecessary interface components. The final design improved glanceability, reduced cognitive load, and helped riders locate critical information more quickly.

Redesigned the fuel gauge to improve clarity and reduce overlap with the rev indicator, making better use of screen space.

User testing revealed that riders found the group member count difficult to interpret at a glance. We moved participant indicators to the top of the screen, creating a clearer visual hierarchy and freeing up space for navigation.
