Romanticism: Poetry Book Design
Role
Visual Designer
Duration
3 Weeks

This project reimagines Romantic-era poetry through expressive typography and experimental layout. Featuring poems by William Wordsworth, John Keats, Percy Bysshe Shelley, and Lord Byron, the book explores themes of nature, impermanence, beauty, and emotion that define the Romantic movement.
Rather than presenting the poems in a traditional format, the typography responds to each poem’s tone, rhythm, and imagery. Through variations in scale, spacing, and composition, the layouts aim to visually embody the emotional atmosphere of the poetry.
From Digital to Physical
The book was developed through a combination of digital and hands-on production methods. After finalizing the layouts, each page was printed, assembled, and hand-bound to create a cohesive final publication.
Key Takeaways
Bridged digital design with physical production
Explored how materials impact user experience
Strengthened understanding of print layout and bookmaking
Considered readability beyond the screen

After finalizing the layouts digitally, I printed the book on handmade Lokta paper, carefully assembled each page, and hand-bound the book to create a cohesive final piece.
This project allowed me to explore how typography can extend beyond readability to shape emotion and experience.
By combining editorial design with hands-on bookmaking, I developed a deeper understanding of visual hierarchy, pacing, and materiality. It strengthened my ability to translate abstract concepts into cohesive visual systems across both digital and physical formats.
